AEEBC President Professor trevor Mole receives the Danish Constructing Architects Prize for his work in encouraging the free movement of building professionals.

At the biannual conference of the Danish Association of Constructing Architects, the Constructor’s day (Konstruktørdag) in Horsens in Denmark 25 October professor and director Trevor Mole, president of AEEBC, was honoured with the constructor’s award 2008 (Konstruktørprisen). Trevor Mole was handed the award by mayor of Horsens and former minister Jan Trøjborg, for his very special effort to ensure Danish constructing architects’ right to practice their profession abroad.
Trevor Mole is 57 years old, and he is director of Property tectonics, in Manchester, one of the most important medium consultancies in the construction and housing sector in Great Britain. He is also a visiting professor at Salford University, which many consider to be among the absolute leaders in research and education in construction. And then he is the President of the Association of European building surveyors and construction experts (AEEBC), where he is fighting for the European building experts’ right to practice their profession across national borders. For an English building surveyor or a Danish constructing architect, it is hard to be allowed to practice your profession in a country like Belgium, for instance, where this work is exclusively, and by regulation, performed by architects.
Constructing architects are recognized in Denmark, as building and construction experts, the same way as the British building surveyors maintain, improve and renovate existing buildings. Both professions are largely unknown outside their home countries.
AEEBC member Konstruktørforeningen (Danish Association of Constructing Architects, KF) has for many years worked hard to give constructing architects the opportunity to exercise their profession in other countries and KF president, Gert Johansen says:
"If it were not for people like Trevor Mole, Europe's ideals of free movement would not apply to us as constructing architects.
It hems business opportunities because competition has been put on stand-by by single nations special rules, bureaucracy and language confusion, "says Gert Johansen and continues:" We are, figuratively speaking at a Tower of Babel with no common language, common rules and common goals, and it is therefore a joy for me that the Constructor award this year is given to Trevor Mole for the great work he is doing as president of AEEBC to speak up the European politicians and get these trade barriers removed.
Trevor Mole was clearly touched when receiving the award, which he considers a great honour to receive. In his responding speech he made it clear that he received the award on behalf of AEEBC.
The award was presented by Horsens Mayor, former minister, Jan Trøjborg.

Recipients of the award may be individuals, companies or projects that have done something extraordinary within the theme of this year’s Constructor’s Day, and especially if constructing architects have played a positive role in this regard.
The constructor’s award is awarded every 2 years.
