AEEBC gives expertise to new guide on health & safety on construction sites

AEEBC is giving expertise to a working group under the EU commission in its work to make a guide to the implementation of the directive on health and safety on construction sites 92/57.

The workgroup was set up a year ago with representation from governments, employees and employers with assistance from various experts including AEEBC.

The purpose of the guide is to help new member states to better understand the directive and thus to ensure a more even and correct implementation across member states.

In that respect the guide is in line with the commission’s current work to ensure that some of the older member states make necessary amendments to their existing legislation. It is fair to say that although the directive is very detailed in its requirements; it has been implemented rather unevenly.

The guide is hoped also to be of inspiration to professionals and workers throughout Europe.
